Integrative activities | Working groups | Human dimensions of Earth System modelling
The idea that Earth system models should be extended to include processes of human-environment interaction is widely accepted, but there is no consensus on how (or indeed, why). The area is fraught with controversies about the appropriateness of using different modelling tools derived from economics and the social sciences in the context of global environmental change. This Working Group brought together international experts in environmental economics, integrated assessment modelling and social science to begin a dialogue on the rationales and methodology of including human dimensions in Earth system models.
